Truth-in-Taxation Seminar Schedule
2010

During May, June, and July, Texas Comptroller Susan Combs’ Property Tax Assistance Division (PTAD) will conduct two statewide telecasts and 27 webinars to explain the laws that local government taxing units must follow when adopting 2010 property tax rates.

Attendees may pre-register for the seminar of their choice. Use the registration form www.window.state.tx.us/taxinfo/taxforms/50-754.pdf and return it to PTAD. The regional seminars are still free of charge. Registration is required to guarantee receiving a copy of the Truth-in-Taxation publication and presentation slides.

The PTAD staff will detail how to calculate the effective and rollback tax rates, what to publish and when to hold a tax-rate-rollback election.

Truth-in-Taxation Seminars for 2010 will consist of two separate live presentations. The morning session, from 9 a.m. to noon, will deal with setting tax rates for taxing units other than school districts. The afternoon session, 1–4 p.m., will focus exclusively on setting tax rates for school districts. All times are Central Time Zone. Webinars will be presented on a variety of topics. Individuals attending either the Truth-in-Taxation - A Guide for Setting Tax Rates for Taxing Units Other than Schools Districts or the Truth-in-Taxation A Guide for Setting School District Tax Rates seminars will receive 2.5 hours of continuing education credit for each session or a total of 5 hours if you attend both.

The 2010 Truth-in-Taxation guides will be on the web by early May.
