Dear Readers:The Property Tax Division (PTD) staff is working to implement the Legislature's new property tax mandates that require new and amended property tax forms and notices.
In October, we mailed chief appraisers and county tax assessors a set of proposed and amended rules and forms for their review and comments. This packet included the rendition forms, report of decreased value, and the special inventory forms for car dealers, heavy equipment dealers, and mobile home retailers.
PTD staff is also working on amended exemption forms, a new restricted-use timberland appraisal form, and a tax refund application. In this STATEMENT, we included the revised notice that appraisal districts must send property owners who have overlapping property in more than one appraisal district. This notice does not require a Comptroller rule change, but the Tax Code requires us to prescribe the notice's contents.
We hope that you will take time to comment on these new and revised forms, notices, and rules. We want to hear from you on what will and won't work in your local offices.
Thank you for your comments and assistance. We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
