Register for our 2013 Appraisal Review Board Training Seminar – New Member

Between March and May, the Texas Comptroller’s Property Tax Assistance Division (PTAD) conducts appraisal review board (ARB) training seminars across the state. State law requires new ARB members to complete the Comptroller’s training course before they can participate in ARB hearings.

The Comptroller’s office will offer both in-person and telecast seminars in 2013. The in-person seminars are taught by an instructor in the room with the audience. The telecast seminars are taught with the instructor in Austin and the audience in a variety of locations, watching on a large television screen. Attendees at the remote telecast locations will be able to participate and ask questions during the training.

Each seminar will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 4:30 p.m. Central Time Zone, except in El Paso, which is Mountain Time Zone. Session check-in is from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Seminar dates and their locations are below.

State law requires ARB members who have previously served on an ARB and are continuing to serve to complete the Comptroller’s training course before they can participate in ARB hearings.

The in-person seminars are taught by an instructor in the room with the audience. The telecast seminars are taught with the instructor in Austin and the audience in a variety of locations, watching on a large television screen. Attendees at the remote telecast locations will be able to participate and ask questions during the training.

How to Register

To register for an ARB seminar, complete this Excel form using the drop down boxes (the little arrow on the side of the cell box) provided for registering all attendees, and save a copy of this Excel spreadsheet (Do not save it as a "pdf" file.) Email the completed Excel form to ptad.arb@cpa.state.tx.us. Make your registration check payable to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Mail your registration check to Patricia Bailey at:

Cost of Training

• The registration fee for an ARB member is $45.
• CAD staff may attend for free as space allows, but must be registered in advance.
• There is no early bird registration this year.

Deadlines and Registration Restrictions

• Deadline to register is Feb. 15, 2013.
• There is no onsite location registration.
• Late registration may require an ARB member to attend another location if the requested location is full.
• If ARB members are not appointed at the time of registration, enter TBA (To Be Appointed) to hold a slot at a particular location.
• ARB members will receive priority at registration.

Continuing Education Credit Available for CAD staff

• TDLR continuing education credit is available this year. CE credit is 6.5 hours.
• Be sure to include your TDLR number when you register.

Training Day Information

• Attendees will need to sign in for the morning session and the afternoon session on preprinted sign-in sheets to verify attendance for the course.
• Attendees will receive training materials and session slides at each session.
• In-person training has a presenter in the room.
• Telecast training has a presenter in Austin.
• There is no webinar training.
• Coffee and water will be provided at all in-person locations and at some telecast locations.
• Parking should be available at no charge.
• Attendees will be on their own for lunch.

Post Training Information

• ARB members who complete the training will have their certificates emailed to their respective appraisal district.
• CAD staff who complete the training will have their certificates emailed to their respective appraisal district.

Refunds

• Appraisal districts may request a refund prior to the registration deadline if an ARB member cannot attend a previously scheduled seminar.
• All refund requests must be in writing and received by February 15, 2013.
• Refund requests received after February 15, 2013 will be rejected.
