The Texas Comptroller’s annual report of property taxes includes detailed property tax information for special purpose taxing units in Texas. Tax Code Section 5.09 requires the Comptroller’s annual report may include property tax information on these special taxing units.
This appendix provides 2004 special district property tax levy information for 1,429 special districts from information reported to the Comptroller’s Property Tax Division. The appendix groups these special districts according to the appraisal districts in which they are located and lists the appraisal districts in alphabetical order. Some special districts are listed more than once because their property may be located in more than one county and may be appraised by more than one appraisal district.
This appendix excludes school equalization districts, whose tax levies are included with the total school taxes.
The first column includes the “Market Value” of property in the special district. The second column includes the “Taxable Value” of property taxed by the special district. The taxable value reflects deductions for value that are not taxable because of applicable homestead exemptions, productivity appraisal of qualified agricultural and timberland, tax abatements and reinvestment zones.
The last two columns show each special district’s 2004 tax rate and tax levy.
Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn gratefully acknowledges the cooperation of appraisal district officials in providing the property tax information for these special districts.
