Transmittal Letter
May 10, 2007
The Honorable Rick Perry, Governor
The Honorable David Dewhurst, Lieutenant Governor
The Honorable Thomas R. Craddick, Speaker of the House
Members of the Legislative Budget Board
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Each year, the Comptroller reports the state’s expenditures by county. This report continues the series started in 1991 by House Bill 1, 76th Legislature, Regular Session, Article IX.
Texas State Expenditures by County-2006 shows where state dollars are spent. The report lists state expenditures by agency and type of expenditure in each county and for the 24 council of government regions. The report’s introduction explains the estimation method and lists the categories of expenditures.
Texas State Expenditures by County-2006 was created using information from the state’s Uniform Statewide Accounting System. This report reflects actual net expenditures of funds expended from accounts held in the State Treasury during the state’s 2006 fiscal year, September 1, 2005, through August 31, 2006. For certain expenditures, the Comptroller’s office used information provided by individual state agencies to estimate the distribution of specific types of expenditures to the counties.
