The ERCOT Electric Transmission Grid
ERCOT’s electric transmission grid covers 75 percent of the land in Texas and 85 percent of the population in Texas. ERCOT’s transmission grid looks like a spider web or maze of transmission lines crossing the state with clusters of densely packed lines in and around the major urban areas of Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, San Antonio and Austin. ERCOT’s sphere of authority is defined by its electric grid and the customers it serves
