Areas Appropriate for Traditional Tidal Power
The parts of the global where the tide swing is large enough to generate power from traditional, barrage-type of tidal systems are limited. Potential sites could be found in areas that include: the southeast and northeast coasts of South America; parts of Indonesia and the northwestern coast of Australia; New Zealand; the coasts around the East China Sea; the Siberian Peninsula and far northeast Russia; the British Isles; the northeast coast of the U.S. and up into Newfoundland, Canada; Hudson Bay; and the southern coast of Alaska with the Aleutian Islands.
