Denton Biodiesel Plant
In Denton, landfill gas is used to produce biodiesel fuel. Gas wells from Denton’s landfill supply gas for heating water, as part of a chemical process that converts vegetable oils and animal fats to biodiesel fuel. A boiler supplies heat. With the addition of a catalyst, the reactor produces biodiesel and byproducts of glycerin and wastewater. The wastewater can be applied to roads to help control dust at the landfill.
