Hurricane Rita Timber Damage
Trees damaged in the wake of Hurricane Rita could have been used in a wood-burning power plant. Hurricane Rita caused more damage to East Texas timber than any disaster in recent history, destroying or damaging about 6 percent or 771,000 acres of East Texas timber.
