Uranium Reprocessing
Reprocessing spent fuel separates its remaining uranium (U), plutonium (Pu) and higher actinides from fission products, or high-level waste (HLW). The uranium must be “re-enriched” and can be formed into uranium oxide fuel pellets, or combined with plutonium to form a mixed-oxide fuel that can be used in reactors.
