Traffic Control Devices

Standardized Contracts Reduces Costs
The Strategic Sourcing Division worked closely with the Texas Department of Transportation to develop an RFP for a wide range of traffic control devices; from sign posts to traffic signals. The result was standardized specifications and a consolidation of multiple contracts into one solicitation.
Also, for the first time, the state asked for proposals on items that had traditionally been manufactured in-house. This paid off as the new contract pricing has saved 23.9 percent since November 2010. To date, state agencies and CO-OP members have saved $2.29 million.
