Facilities Supplies Competitive Bid Initiative

The Strategic Sourcing Division is investigating the consolidating all spend related to facilities and industrial supplies under a single term contract. This initiative will allow the State to procure approximately $75 million/year through a competitive bidding process while provide the best value to the State’s customers.

This category consists of a broad spectrum of goods used by virtually every state agency and cooperative member entity. These goods are currently purchased through a Texas Multiple Award Schedule contract, individual statewide term contracts or open market purchases by individual agencies. Utilizing a request for proposals solicitation will produce the best value for the State’s customer base. Specifically, this process will:

  1. utilize the State's purchasing power to procure best possible price
  2. ensure strong quality standards, and
  3. streamline the ordering process for the purchasers and vendors.

Currently, the Strategic Sourcing Division is gathering sales data from various vendors who have conducted business with the State in the past. The next step is meetings with the key stakeholders and industry players to identify the core item list prior to developing a solicitation.
