Certified Texas Purchaser (CTP):
The CTP test concentrates on the basics of purchasing in Texas. To be eligible for certification you must have one year purchasing experience and have completed the TPASS Basic and Advanced Purchasing classes or the equivalent (i.e., be currently certified as CPPB by NIGP or A.P.P. by ISM/NAPM). Remember, the test may cover anything in either of the courses and anything in the TPASS Procurement Manual.
Certified Texas Procurement Manager (CTPM):
To be eligible for this level of certification, you must have three years purchasing experience and have completed the TPASS Basic, Advanced and CNC classes or the equivalent (i.e., be currently certified as CPPO by NIGP or C.P.M. by ISM/NAPM). Remember, the test may cover anything in any of the prior courses and anything in the TPASS Procurement Manual.
You must apply to take the certification examination within six (6) months of completing your last class for certification. Please complete the Testing Registration Form (pdf) and forward to the University of Texas at Austin, K-16 Education Center.
When your request for an examination has been processed, you will receive an email from the K-16 Education Center. You have 60 days to take the test. Examinees must present photo identification at the time of testing. Be sure to allow at least two (2) hours for testing.

Alternate Testing Site (Outside Austin)
If you want to take the certification test at an Authorized Testing Center other than K-16 Education Center, you must locate an accredited university or community college in your area and ask if they can supervise the test. If the location agrees to do so, please complete the applicable information Testing Registration Form (pdf) and send the completed form to K-16 Education Center. The K-16 Education Center will then mail them a copy of the test. Please allow adequate time for the exam to be forwarded to the requesting testing center. Also, alternate testing sites outside of Austin may have additional testing fees.
Extension of Time
A one-time extension of 60 days is available for a fee of $50. The extension must be requested during the original 60 day enrollment period. To extend the deadline for your exam, please contact the K-16 Education Center at (512) 471-0222 or 1-888-232-4723.
Receiving Test Results
If testing at the K-16 Education Center, students have the usage of the online grading to acquire an immediate test grade. This option may not be offered at facilities outside of Austin. Please allow 10-12 business days to receive your test results via electronic mail and/or a post card from the K-16 Education Center. The K-16 Education Center will send the actual exam to CPA’s Training and Certification Program (TCP).

Repeating the Test
You may repeat the test any time after your initial test. The full fee for the test will be charged each time you have to re-test.
