Continuing Education
After you have earned your certification, you are required to complete 120 hours of continuing education (CE) beginning from the issue date or last renewal date of the Texas Certification. The hours may be averaged over a five (5) year period with no more than 45 hours during any one year period. To meet the CE requirement, TPASS encourages certified individuals to obtain 24 hours of continuing education per calendar year. You may not accumulate hours and carry them forward past the expiration date of your certificate.
To facilitate this effort, TPASS has added a Professional Development Program to enhance our core curriculum. Please visit https://cmblreg.cpa.state.tx.us/reg-pd/index.cfm for the schedule. TPASS also maintains a clearinghouse of CE opportunities throughout the state at http://esbd.cpa.state.tx.us/cptout/.
Continuing Education for this program falls into four basic areas:
- Standard Contract Management Related Training
- Non-Standard Training (Approved by Agency Contract >Management/Procurement Director)
- Instructor Credit
Dual Certification
If your agency requires you to maintain active CTP/M certification after you achieve CTCM certification, your continuing education hours towards your CTP/M certification will also apply to your CTCM certification as long as they fall within the active and expiration dates of your CTP/M certification. 60 of those hours must be directly related to contract management activities and 60 hours must be directly related to procurement activities.
