Comptroller’s Office Offers Webinars for Franchise Tax Filers

(AUSTIN) — The Texas Comptroller’s office will host two Webinars to help taxpayers and practitioners who are filing 2009 franchise tax reports, Comptroller Susan Combs announced today.

Taxpayers can log on from 10 – 11 a.m. on either Tuesday, March 31, or Tuesday, April 28.

The one-hour Webinars will offer participants the opportunity to exchange real-time questions and answers with tax experts.

“Our franchise tax staff will help taxpayers work through common errors and omissions seen in last year’s tax reports,” Combs said. “New and current franchise tax filers can get some valuable help in getting their annual reports processed more quickly.”

Some common errors last year pertained to deductions from revenue and filing incorrect public information reports that are submitted with the franchise tax return.

The Webinars will utilize Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), which means participants don’t have to pay for long distance phone calls to hear the online presentation. The Webinars are free, but pre-registration is required. Visit the Comptroller’s Web site at www.window.state.tx.us/taxinfo/franchise/webinars_2009.html and click on the link to register for either the March 31 or April 28 Webinar.
